THE BBC AGAIN

Published by John Redwood at 8:02 am under Blog

The Today programme decided to take half the story from this website on the effects of global warming and misrepresent it to David Cameron in an interview. It is low grade journalism, showing the BBC are desperate to create trouble within the Conservative party but can only do so by taking a few phrases out of context.

You must be wrong! The BBC is impartial and objective! Sadly, if you question the hell fire and brimstone version of global warming or even dare to suggest adaptation you will be burned at the stake as a heretic. Just look at the way the BBC misrepresented the latest IPCC report.

John, I think the Today Prog’ scored a home goal by introducing this snippet from your website as it directed me to a politician who is willing to suggest there may be some doubt about global warming. There is, without doubt, a growing number of people who are beginning to doubt the whole global warming theory that says it is our way of life which is causing it. We are asking why so much legislation is being introduced simply because of a theory which has only guess work and computer models to qualify it. We are asking why the scientists who argue against the theory are never allowed on such progs’ as Today to present the alternative view. We are asking why there is no politician with the courage to say, ‘ We will do nothing until the theory is proven’. We are asking, if carbom emissions are so dreadful why this government has done nothing to reduce their own ‘carbon footprint’. The fact remains there is pure science which disproves the warming theory that says it our fault but it appears science, which goes against the current warming bandwagon, is not to be read, broadcast or believed.
Global warming caused by our carbon emmissions is just hot air but it is a marvellous industry with which to raise revenue, a cash cow to be milked under the banner of ‘caring for future generations’ but, we ask, why shouldn’t the people in the north of England have the right to grow their own grapes as they once did. Global warming will, in its own time, cut air travel as those who go abroad for the sun will simply have to drive a few miles south to enjoy the conditions now seen in Spain and Portugal. What about Africa I hear the global warmers cry…well what about it, the Africans will adapt as the warming gradually increases just as this planet has adapted over the eons as climate has changed. When we were growing grapes in Northumbria the Africans didn’t disappear they survived as they will in the future.

John, since David Cameron extended an invitation to you today “over the airwaves” to come along and hear Al Gore speak this week, I trust that you will be putting one or two pertinent questions to the reverend!

The excellent Channel 4 programme The Great Climate warming Swindle explained wonderfully the truth about climate change. It also courteously explained why the charlatan Al Gore is wrong.

Since 1984 there has been irrefutable scientific proof since Willi Dansgaard of Denmark, Hans Oeschger of Switzerland and Claude Lorious of France drilled ice cores which proved that for 400000 years our climate has changed naturally, every 1500 years.

To read more I recommend the book

    John,
Over the last few months I have been looking into the question of global warming. I have been staggered by what I have found. There doesn’t appear to be a shred of evidence to prove that the current warming period has been primarily caused by human C02 emissions.
The one piece of ‘evidence’ was the infamous hockey stick graph produced by Michael Mann about ten years ago. It has now been completely discredited for a variety of reasons. It was just plain wrong. The graph appeared frequently in earlier IPCC reports, but there was no sign of it in the latest report a few weeks ago.
As the Channel 4 program demonstrated, the world climate has been going up and down for millions of years. What we’re seeing now is nothing new. Scientific evidence from around the world strongly supports the view that the world was actually warmer during the Mediaeval Warming Period. History supports this, too. For example, at that time much of Greenland was warm and fertile, hence the name. In this period we experienced a warming period probably stronger than the current one. But we’re still here. And so are the polar bears.
To be honest, every time I hear politicians going on about ‘combating climate change’ I want to scream, because I knew it is a futile delusion. I felt the same listening to David Cameron on the Today program this morning. But the program was useful. I learned for the first time about your views on the subject, and it did give me hope. In the Channel 4 program I also learned of Nigel Lawson’s views. Please, remember that you are not alone.
Yes, the world is faced by a huge danger: that politicians who have fallen for this delusion will throw away countless trillions of dollars chasing a fantasy. The tragedy is that the money could be spent wisely, for example on providing clean water, combating malaria and AIDS etc etc.
The truth will come out, but it will take tame. Unfortunately many climate scientists - and Al Gore - have discovered a very convenient truth: that doom-mongering is good for your career.

    Chris

P.S. if anyone missed the Channel 4 program, it’s repeated tonight (Monday) on More4.

    John,

I was delighted to hear on the Today programme this morning that you have questioned the reasons for global warming. I competely agree with all the comments that have been left by others this morning and I too thought that Channel 4’s programme was excellent. In particular, the evidence from ice core samples that show that Co2 has always been low at times of global warming and high about 400 years later, seemed irrefutable.

My concern, however, is that our government and, indeed, most governments the world over, are determined not even to have a debate about the evidence. They seem determined to turn all our lives upside down. What can we, as ordinary people, do about this?

Are there other politicians with concerns like your’s and Nigel Lawson’s and, if so, is anything being done at Westminster to try to ensure a sensible, unbiased debate about this crucial issue?

    John,
I think you are more in tune with Conservative voters on this issue than David Cameron. Peter Ainsworth appeared on the Daily Politics today and showed clearly how little he knows about aircraft emissions yet is advocating taxing flights. It is so disappointing that after suffering under Blair for so long we have little hope for salvation from a Conservative Government led by Cameron.
I hope you will continue to speak your mind and if you do get a chance to attend the Gore meeting you put some important questions to him such as those that were raised in the Great Global Warming Swindle.

Given the swallow-dive in journalistic standards we’ve seen from the BBC, and its endemic bias against any person (or thought) who doesn’t kow-tow to its clear ideological agenda, please, Please, PLEASE, can you make privatisation of this left-wing cabal a priority within the first year of the next Conservative government. A promise on this might even persuade me to amble to the polls, take a deep breath, and lend my vote to Mr Cameron - who I can’t work out is utterly dishonest or just stupid. Feel free to edit this comment for respectability’s sake.

PS. Stick it to Gore, if you have the chance.

It’s about time the BBC Poll Tax was axed. If people wanted to read/listen to/watch their programmes they would make a profit by selling advertising or charging a subscription.

It’s usually only dictatorships which have state broadcasting organisations.

As a non-Conservative, I must agree that there is a tendency on TV these days to sensationalise stories by reporting the more controversial parts and ignoring/downgrading the more ‘boring stuff’. The BBC does it but so does the ITV too. I think its the spread of tabloid journalism to broadcasters.

As to David Cameron and his ‘tree hugging’ policies - from reading the comments in the Daily Telegraph - looks like he has touched a raw nerve with his voters. I struggle to see the clear water between Labour and the Conservatives. How long before you ditch him ? UKIP must be picking up votes by the bucketful ;0)

The scam is blown! The spin, propaganda, misinformation and PR hype is unfolding before our very eyes. Not the Global Warming Swindle but the lamentable failure of Dave
