'The irony is that if we do witness a coronation of Gordon Brown, it will be against the background of the kingdom coming apart at Hadrian's Wall.' (John Redwood)

I'm writing from North of Hadrians Wall and South of the Scottish border here. I can assure you that there is no plotting going on in the land of Lord Percy to break away and join a new independent Scotland.

Your party (and most Southerners) could actually learn a lot from our beautiful county. Take the Kielder Project for instance - 150 million trees in a sustainable forest producing 1,300 tonnes of timber daily. Kielder water, at a capacity of 200 billion litres is the UK's largest man-made reseviour, no hose-pipe bans up here!

There are all sorts of fantastic conservation and environmental projects up here, perhaps rather than make slurs about us falling away from England one of you guys should come and visit and look at some of our wonderful 'green' work.

Just why Miliband was considered capable of becoming Prime Minister is a mystery to me. Brown will be a worse Prime Minister than the atrocious Blair but Labour is devoid of talent to oppose his power grab. Hopefully, Cameron and the Conservatives will begin to provide a positive reason for voting for them rather than just a relying on the anti-Labour vote.
