GORDON BROWN SHOULD TELL TONY BLAIR TO VETO AN EU CONSTITUTIONAL TREATY
COME ON GORDON SAY NO TO A CONSTITUTIONAL TREATY
??
?????????? Gordon Brown has a wonderful opportunity to show he will break from the Blair era, and to show he does understand how angry England feels about the creeping European controls over our government and way of life.
??
???????????? He should tell Tony Blair and all the Heads of government in the EU that he will?? not endorse any shady deal Tony Blair tries to patch together over the EU Constitution. I read that Tony Blair would still like to be President of the EU in a couple of years time if such a post is created through a mini? Treaty. The fact that he might like such a post makes him thoroughly unsuited to represent the UK and stand up for our interests. We do not want any more power to go to Brussels. We want power back, and we want many of the rules and regulations scrapped. We do not want a watered down version of the Constitution that France and Holland so rightly rejected by referendum.
??
???????????? Gordon Brown as Chancellor must know that EU bureaucracy is making us increasingly uncompetitive with the rest of the world, threatening jobs and incomes at home. He must know that England is overwhelmingly Eurosceptic and against the Constitution. He could do something for both these constituencies, and show he is made of sterner stuff than Tony Blair, by simply saying a loud and clear No? today.

John Redwood has been the Member of Parliament for Wokingham since 1987. First attending Kent College, Canterbury, he graduated from Magdalen College...
A final act of mendacity and duplicity against the British people by Blair. He clearly is still harbouring hopes of becoming President of the EU and must not be allowed to succeed in his self-serving ambition.
It is about time that Brown stated publicly his opinions on these European matters instead of hiding.
The Conservative leadership must also have a louder voice - Europe seems to have become the subject no-one wishes to discuss.

Do you really think has the strength of character that would be needed?

JR, does Blair have constitutional authority to unilaterally sign a treaty or would it need to be ratified by the House of Commons ?
Reply: The Treaty he has in mind will need Parliamentary approval for the consequential legislation. That is why I am challenging Brown to say “No” now. His silence implies he is happy for Tony Blair to sign something that is unpopular, and then as the new PM he will say that Labour votes have to vote it through even though he is not very keen on it. He will caim Blair has given the country’s word and the deed must be done.

Blair cannot give the country’s word, and his is worthless. I for one will not stand for it.
As an opposition party you should bring this to the public’s attention at every opportunity, Conservative MP’s are on the radio and TV everyday. If your party stays silent then it is complicit in the act of treason that is about to take place.
