I can't argue with anything you have said. It seems crazy to all except government that if you build on flood plains the water has no where to go so floods will occur.
The cinema at Winnersh is a prime example, it has been built right next to the Loddon and the car park floods often. This car park is also the car park for the park and ride ( Or should that be park and row?) in to Reading. Doh.

Ditch maintainance is a thing of the past, Councils including our own, would sooner spend money on producing glossy brochures telling us how well they are spending our money or sending huge consultation documents to every address at huge cost. Why must these be sent first class? The last one was from the "Town Centre Champion" what is that all about?

Reply: I agree that the Environment Agency, the Water companies and the Councils must be made to do a better job of maintaining ditches and drains and improving them where necessary. I am in discussion with the Agency and local Councils to try to get them to do just that.
