Cruelty to animals

Published by John Redwood at 5:59 am under Blog

The Labour government when they arrived in office in 1997 told us they intended to be animal friendly. Ten years on it looks very different.
There was an excellent article in the Sunday Telegraph pointing out the irony as Labour Ministers order the early deaths of farm animals because they have foot and mouth, a disease that cannopt spread to humans, caught from a source at a laboratory producing a vaccination which Ministers refuse to use to protect the animals.
Why run the risk of the virus escaping to produce a vaccinaiton you do not intend to use?

The Labour government need to think about being kind to humans before they can lecture the world on how kind they are to animals. Today’s news that people have been pulling out their own teeth with tweezers and fixing broken crowns with glue because they couldn’t find an NHS dentist heaps shame on this uncaring Labour government.

Returning to the subject of animals, it is quite right to lay the blame for foot and mouth and the early death of animalsat Labour’s door. The tragedy is that this hasn’t been an isolated phenomena either but something that has become the norm under the Labour government.
