Your comments on the Lib dem leader watching his back cannot possibly be taken seriously given your own track record. I suppose you are speaking from your experience wielding the knife.

Reply: I have never been disloyal to a leader or wielded a knife. I once stood when a Leader foolishly resigned and created a vacancy.I resigned from his service first. These Lib dems have been undermining their Leader in public and private whilst still remaining in posts he had offered them.

Would the Liberals dare to choose Simon Hughes as their leader? He has been exposing himself a lot in the media lately, perhaps a pre-emptive leadership campaign? If so it would be a big mistake by the Liberals. Simon Hughes has had serious contradictions in his life and he has certainly been economical with the truth. Would the public trust the straight candidate? Would that drive some of the more sensible Liberal voters into the Conservative camp?

Reply: I have heard Simon has ruled himself out. Although we might end up with a large number of candidates, as many of them fancy their chances.

I am not a LibDems supporter but I respect Mr Campbell. I fear he came across far too honest to be an effective leader of his party. I expect they will now elect yet another leader that will seek to "modernise" the party and in keeping with the other main parties, abandon everything they have ever stood for as they too aim for the centre ground. This will give the electorate even less choice and as I have said before: no choice means no democracy.

Reply: Campbell was not so saintly when they deposed Kennedy. They seem very poll driven.
