As you quite rightly say Mr Mandelson has been more than compliant in helping the Chinese on their way. There is no doubt that the Chinese are, to use their own words, "Openly challenging western economic pre-eminence" and we must be on our guard against Chinas growing economic empire. However we cannot look to Peter Mandelson for a lead.
