11.19 Queen’s speech sent out on wires. 11.30 Queen delivers speech!
They might have waited for Her Majesty to arrive in the Lords before sending the speech out to all outlets. Now there can be nothing new, no suprises, for the Queen to deliver.
I assume this way of treating the Queen’s Speech was deliberate.

It is New Labour’s intention to strip more and more powers or duties from the Queen and to weaken her connections with British institutions - Parliament, the armed forces, the courts, the Church - until eventually the monarch will be living in a kind of Forbidden City, cut off like the last Emperor of China. Abolition of the Lords, and other acts of constitutional vandalism, refusal to replace the Royal Yacht, removal of the Crown emblem wherever they can get away with it, ceasing to appoint deans of cathedrals: all these and many other changes all point the same way.

New Labour and most of it’s sympathisers appear to want us to become a republic. Most people of this country do not. The snubbing of HM was more obvious during the last dictator’s reign. I believe Mr Brown is more crafty so it won’t be so obvious, but it will still be there.
Constitutional vandalism has been a trait of the last ten years of Labour’s rule that we have had to endure. It seems to me to be the politics of envy.
