I would welcome these policies as warmly as a dose of the clap - but at least Huhne's position seems more honest to me since he is openly a big government leftie.

Clegg seems to have given a libertarian impression (Orange Book gang leader?) which is intellectually at odds with even bigger government at the EU level and green religious fundamentalism.

The Lib Dem leadership election is their last chance to decide what they stand for - liberty or big brother. We are seeing again that they themselves have no idea what they stand for. What a shower of &^%$!

The Liberals leadership race is like watching two raindrops sliding down the window. In the general scheme of things the two drips are irrelevant, yet curiosity gets the better of us and we watch as the two drips slowly inch their way along. Excitement begins to mount as the two drips near the end of the window pane, who will win?, which drip will prove the stronger? But then alas, the excitement ends as the two drips run out of steam and merge into each other.

There's always something about Lib Dem leadership battles that brings to mind the Kissinger quote about "academic quarrels".
